Papa John’s Pizza announced yesterday that it has chosen television personalities Ted Allen and Rich Eisen to help choose three finalists for Papa’s Specialty Pizza Challenge.
The award-winning restaurant currently has eight specialty pizzas on its menu, but looks to add one more with its latest original recipe contest. The competition, which began on April 26, challenges customers to create their own, unique specialty pizza, using up to seven items from a list of ingredients already used in Papa John’s kitchens.
Tonight, Papa John’s Pizza will treat revelers at the official “New Year’s Eve in Times Square” party with coupons for a free Cinnapie.
Citing information from a company news release, Advertising Age reported yesterday that Papa John’s Founder and CEO John Schnatter will host one of several hourly countdowns at the celebration. Counting down to the end of the 9 PM hour, Schnatter will address the crowd of thousands from atop a stage situated between 46th Street and 47th Street before signaling a “confetti” drop of coupons good for one free cinnamon-and-brown-sugar-struesel dessert. Finally, in line with his “Papa’s in the House” series of television commercials, Schnatter will personally dispense pizzas throughout the crowd.
John Schnatter, founder of Papa John’s Pizza, promised a free, one-topping pizza to everyone in attendance at last week’s University of Louisville Men’s Basketball victory over Oral Roberts University.
While the on-court action was a rout, resulting in a 37-point victory for Louisville, the halftime show proved exciting for everyone in attendance. The Associated Press reports that Schnatter agreed to feed all 18,868 fans with a free meal from his Louisville-based pizza delivery chain if he could sink a halfcourt shot. After several attempts, Schnatter succeeded and now stands to give away roughly $174,000 in free food if everyone eligible takes him up on his offer.
The deal, redeemable by bringing a ticket stub from the game into one of the restaurant’s Kentucky locations, applies to carryout orders only.
