Burger King announced the nationwide rollout of its newest menu offering,  the Steakhouse XT line of premium hamburgers.

Though already available in select markets, the line — which consists of three hamburgers, each containing a seven ounce, seasoned ground beef patty on a bakery bun — should arrive in all U.S. and Canadian Burger King locations by the end of the month, according to an official news release issued by the company.

The line’s flagships sandwich, the Steakhouse XT, debuts at an introductory price of $3.99, which the Wall Street Journal notes is the most the chain has ever charged for a single-patty hamburger.

Whataburger has created a new holiday for its latest promotion, during which customers can add jalapeños to any entrée for free.

During Free Jalapeño Week, the Southwestern-U.S. hamburger chain will forgo the $0.45 charge it usually assesses customers who want to top their Whataburger or breakfast Taquito with the green chili pepper.  Also as part of the event, on Tuesday, eight different locations will host firefighters and police officers as they take part in jalapeño-eating contests for charity.  A press release issued by the restaurant claims that $8,000 in all will go to a number of different charities.

Free Jalapeño Week comes on the heels of several unique promotions.  Last November, Whataburger hosted “Orange Night Out,” on which customers who entered participating restaurants sporting the company’s trademark color received a free hamburger.  Later in the winter, the chain reduced the price of its Taquitos and also hosted twelve separate giveaways for its email subscribers.

Whataburger celebrates its 60th Anniversary this summer.  Free Jalapeño Week begins today and ends January 17.

P.F. Chang’s China Bistro now offers some of its most popular appetizers and drinks at a discounted price during the afternoon.  The American Chinese restaurant unveiled its 33-item Happy Hour menu last week and will continue the special offer at participating locations indefinitely.

Succinctly described on its website as the “$3PM – $6PM Happy Hour,” the discounted menu lasts for three hours between lunch and dinner and has a price range spanning all of three dollars.  Like most happy hour offers, the choices at P.F. Chang’s include much sought-after mixed drinks in smaller glasses and reduced-sized portions of the chain’s highly celebrated, signature appetizers like Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps and Dynamite Shrimp.  Unlike the majority of casual dining afternoon specials, however, the “$3PM – $6PM Happy Hour” can be enjoyed in the dining room (in addition to the bar area) and lasts seven days a week.

Along with its happy hour menu, P.F. Chang’s also recently released a new kids’ menu, now available at all locations.

In celebration of National Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day, Togo’s Sandwiches will give away free Mini Classic Pastrami Sandwiches on January 14.

Togo’s Mini Classics, smaller, 350-calorie versions of the chain’s six most popular subs, normally cost $2.50, but for a brief period, the pastrami Mini Classic will cost nothing in honor of this little-known holiday.  Togo’s takes great pride in its pastrami products — in an article on, Chairman and CEO Tony Gioia describes them as “the best pastrami sandwiches on the west coast.”  Last fall, the company even offered a money-back guarantee for anyone who preferred a competitor’s pastrami over Togo’s.

Customers can receive one free sandwich each between the hours of 3 P.M. and 5 P.M. at all Togo’s restaurants on National Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day.

As part of their 50th Anniversary celebration, Pizza Hut has created a deal in which customers can order any pizza for just ten dollars.

The promotion, labeled “$10 Pizza Days,” in essence temporarily eliminates the pizza delivery chain’s pricing structure.  As stated in a news release issued by the company, ten dollars will buy any size pizza, with any of the three available crust styles, and any combination of toppings.  With the exception of Stuffed Crust Pizzas (which cost an extra dollar), the deal has absolutely no exceptions and requires no coupons.

“$10 Pizza Days” applies at all locations nationwide for a limited time only.

John Schnatter, founder of Papa John’s Pizza, promised a free, one-topping pizza to everyone in attendance at last week’s University of Louisville Men’s Basketball victory over Oral Roberts University.

While the on-court action was a rout, resulting in a 37-point victory for Louisville, the halftime show proved exciting for everyone in attendance.  The Associated Press reports that Schnatter agreed to feed all 18,868 fans with a free meal from his Louisville-based pizza delivery chain if he could sink a halfcourt shot.  After several attempts, Schnatter succeeded and now stands to give away roughly $174,000 in free food if everyone eligible takes him up on his offer.

The deal, redeemable by bringing a ticket stub from the game into one of the restaurant’s Kentucky locations, applies to carryout orders only.

Video of the shot appears below the jump.
